Bonus post, they know where I am
I'm pretty sure Marcus Yallow would not be an iPhone user after reading this story. It seems like a lot of my posts are Apple here. As an iPhone user, it would be nice if I knew what this information was being used for and who was using it. I doubt they're sharing this information with the government.....yet. DUN DUN DUN.

I'll never buy an I Phone!
ReplyDeleteI forget what movie it was but I remember a scene where the protagonist was walking around a mall and there were video screens up and whenever he walked past an avertisement for the GAP came on. In their new privacy policy Apple declares "For example, we may share geographic location with application providers when you opt in to their location services." This sounds like what it will be used for but the implications are much more horrifying to consider. How about "For example, we can look through your phones camera and see who you are keeping company with." Or "For example, we can use your phone speakers to listen in on your friends conversations any time we want."
I always turn of the satalite locator on my pphone for just that reason. I don't need people to know exactly where I am within a quarter mile of my location.
To make user agree to this policy before they can download any other application is even more insidious.
